De`ja` vu
(All Over Again)

Unbelievable!!  Lucky!!  Blessed by the bear Gods! A miracle!  Yeah, that’s what lots of folks have said and I agree!  In 2006, I arrowed a 630 pound monster black bear, 22 inch skull at a great location in the Manitoba bush, while hunting with E & D Outfitters.  The bear was my bear of a lifetime or so I thought.  In 2008, May 28th to be exact, I was seated in my Rivers Edge Journeyman Extreme at 15 feet.  I’d been hunting a certain bear for two days, but the wind changed so I went to a different location.  If you haven’t guessed by now I went back to the same location as 2006.  At around 6:45pm and after seeing several bear, a sow came from the left, just like in 2006.

Then suddenly some thirty yards behind her a huge boar followed.  It was the “rut” in Manitoba and my favorite time to hunt.  Just like in 2006, the sow brought the big boar in.  It didn’t take long to give the big bear the carbon and just like in 2006 it was over in seconds.  Sitting there in disbelief, I reran the scenario 2006 hot sow; 2008 hot sow, 2006 monster bear, 2008 monster bear; Booner’s each and the amazing thing about the bear is the skull green scored at 22 13/16 inches, 2006 bear skull is 22 2/16 inches.  This big guy has already been confirmed as the Manitoba archery record and after the drying period should be second or tied for second in the world.  It could also, shrink enough to make it number three alone.  Same place, same stand location on same time period; (2) Booner’s and one really lucky, blessed hunter to have been part of this unbelievable miracle.  Thanks, River’s Edge for a comfortable, “quiet” stand.

Rob Evans
P.s.  As it stands, Rob Evans, is the only bow hunter to have (2) Booner bear in the top twenty in the record books, {Pope & Young} and {Boone & Crockett}.  They say good things come in 3’s, come on “2009”!!
